Lagoon catamarans is one of the premier brands of sailing and power catamarans in the world, with 7,000 boats built in its 40-year history. Its bluewater cruising cats are popular with owners and charterers thanks to their comfort, performance, safety, stability, and clever design elements. Search for new and used Lagoon catamarans for sale in your area.
Lagoon is one of the largest builders of multihulls in the world. It is a major player in the private ownership sector as well as the charter sector. Its models offer versatility, comfort, stability, and performance in equal measure.
Today, Lagoon is a brand of Groupe Beneteau, which purchased the company in 1995. The company itself dates back to 1984, and built the first Lagoon 55 in 1987. By 1994 that lineup expanded to include five more models—all built to match the high standards of race boats—constructed in epoxy, glass, carbon and Kevlar. In 1997, the Lagoon 410 became its first production volume catamaran—a model remembered for its iconic and innovative vertical windows. The Lagoon 380, a true bluewater cruiser, was introduced in 1998 and remains one of the brand’s best-selling models, with nearly 1,000 boats sold.
Lagoon has always remained at the forefront of innovation, and the Lagoon 440 is the perfect example. Debuted in 2004, it had 100 orders before it had even launched. Features such as an expansive flybridge, owner’s cabin with island berth, huge windows in the hull, and a forward cockpit catapulted it into the limelight.
Credited for its role in bringing multihulls into mainstream popularity, Lagoon has launched hybrid models such as the Lagoon 420, as well as the luxurious flagship, the Lagoon 620. The large SIXTY 5 and the eco-conscious Lagoon 51 show its diversity as a brand. The launch of SIXTY 7 and SEVENTY 8 power catamarans has opened a whole new era for Lagoon.
Lagoon has unsurprisingly been awarded a number of awards in its 40-year history, including Multihull of the Year 2023 in the sail cruising category for the Lagoon 51. During the Multihull Boat Show 2018, the Lagoon 50 won the award of Multihull of the Year, and Lagoon SEVENTY 8 won Best Multihull Motor Yacht over 50 feet.
Lagoon has honed its lineup to offer nine sailing catamarans and two power catamarans. Each model exudes the classic Lagoon style with a balance of strength, performance, and thoughtful design and construction. The spacious interior and deck design have made Lagoon one of the top choices for charter companies the world over, with large communal spaces, multiple cabins, and light, elegant décor.
In the sailing category, the Lagoon 40, which launched in 2017, is the most compact model in the range. It was winner of the Multihull of the Year Award at the 2021 British Yachting Awards thanks to its light-filled interior, ease of handling, and cabin layout that can be customized to accommodate four to six persons.
The Lagoon 42 is one of the world’s best-selling catamarans, with over 1,000 sold to date. The new Lagoon 42 Millenium further enhances the indoor/outdoor lifestyle, with a spacious cockpit leading off the saloon and opening onto a terrace. Other sailing models include the highly capable Lagoon 43, as well as the Lagoon 46 and Lagoon 51. These models offer exceptional liveaboard experience, while retaining the ease of handling for a couple, whether they’re cruising coastally or across oceans.
The Lagoon 55 and Lagoon 60 incorporate yacht-style features, including spacious flybridges, up to 16 berths, a vast forward cockpit, and modular living spaces. The Lagoon 60 was awarded the Design Innovation Award 2024 at the Genoa Boat Show.
The semi-custom SIXTY 5 and EIGHTY 2 bring superyacht classification to Lagoon’s catamarans. These elegant, luxurious models are bound for long-haul voyages. Everything from the hull color to the interior layouts and upholstery can be customized.
In the power catamaran lineup, the SIXTY 7 and SEVENTY 8 are Lagoon’s first foray into this fast-emerging category. These multihull superyachts can accommodate up to 16 guests in six cabins, offering huge space thanks to the wide beam-to-length ratio. They have been awarded numerous accolades since their launches.
